Bret Hart's Fate in The Hand's Doctors:
The wrestling fate of Calgary superstar Bret (Hitman) Hart now lies in the hands of several Montreal concussion specialists. Hart, 42, a former World Championship Wrestling and World Wrestling Federation champion, was in Quebec yesterday undergoing tests at the request of his doctors in Calgary. "They'll confer with his doctors here and decide if he can wrestle again, or when he can wrestle," said Marcy Engelstein, Hart's personal co-ordinator, adding the earliest Hart would wrestle again, if he's cleared, is Dec. 1.
The wrestler's career was put into jeopardy when he suffered a concussion after getting accidentally kicked in the head by WCW wrestler Bill Goldberg on Dec. 19 in Washington, D.C.
He then wrestled several more matches, despite feeling woozy, before seeing a doctor. After the injury, Hart criticized wrestling organizations for using wrestlers that weren't trained properly, saying they're more likely to injury other grapplers. "He doesn't want to end up like (boxing great) Muhammad Ali, who is one of his idols," said Engelstein, who has worked with Hart for the past 14 years. Ali suffers from Parkinson's disease, likely brought on from the thousands of punches he took over his illustrious career.
Hart hasn't been able to lift weights since the incident, but has begun doing some light exercises, said Engelstein.
