  • Huge King of the Ring update: Brackets, more
    By Matt B on June 16, 2000

The Following is news caught on Smackdown, some rumors, and some stated facts. The sources are credited within...

    King of the Ring Brackets

  • Below are this years 2000 King of the Ring brackets thanks to WWF for these:

    Left Side

    1.Kurt Angle
    2.Buh Buh Ray Dudley

    3.Chris Jericho
    4.Edge

    5.Crash Holly
    6.Hardcore Holly

    7.Bull Buchanan
    8.Perry Saturn

    Right Side

    9.Rikishi Phatu
    10.Scotty 2 Hotty

    11.Chris Benoit
    12.X-Pac

    13.Val Venis
    14.Jeff Hardy

    15.Eddie Guererro
    16.Chyna

  • If you look at some of the matches, you will see that the WWF is trying to possibly end some feuds, or possibly create some from within the current buddies. Notice Scotty 2 Hotty taking on Rikishi, both members of the Too Cool faction, this could possibly be where Rikishi leaves the other two. Also, you see Eddie Guerrero to take on his on-air girlfriend, or as he refers to her as "mammaceita," Chyna. Again with the friendship matches you see the two hardcore cousins taking on one another, as WWF pits Crash against cousin Hardcore Holly.

  • Many feel that Kurt Angle is set-up to win the tournament as he is in the middle of a recent giant push from WWF management. If you noticed SmackDown!,s main event, Kurt Angle took on the biggest man in the business the Rock. Bull Buchanon is in the middle of a current feud, but he hasn't been hyped enough to walk in and take the tournament. Rikishi is another favored winner for the tournament.

  • The Main Event for the night has been confirmed as I reported a few weeks ago to show Vince McMahon, Shane McMahon, and Triple H take on the trio of The Undertaker, Kane, and The Rock. One reason for this is because of The Undertaker's recent return being rushed he isn't physically ready for serious one-on-one action, although he is hyped to win it, you should look at the possibility of the stipulations recently added to take effect. The stipulations state that if neither the Rock, Kane, of Undertaker can pin Triple H then "the Game" will give the winner of the King of the Ring tournament a shot at the title. This leads to show that the winner of the King of the Ring tournament would be one of the near main eventers, Rikishi or Kurt Angle. Expect all the Rock, Undertaker, and Kane to come up short in their quest for WWF world title gold, and see Triple H prove one more time that he is the game. Then see Angle or Rikishi take the tournament and go on as their "push" continues taking on the champ at Fully Loaded, which is the WWF's July pay-per view.
