AUBURN- The offensive onslaught continued this afternoon for the Auburn baseball team. Mailon Kent hit a grand slam in the bottom of the seventh innning to give the Tigers a 19-7 mercy-rule win over Furman.
Kent went 2-3 on the day with five RBI and two runs scored. Dominic Rich continues to put up power numbers as he hit his fourth hom run of the young season. Rich also scored three runs. Gabe Gross went 2-3 with three RBI and two runs scored. Hayden Gliemmo extended his hitting streak to 19 games on a double in his first at bat.
Chris Bootcheck (1-0) picked up the win for Auburn. Bootcheck pitched five innings, allowed five runs on seven hits, walked two and struck out four. Jason Kreitner and Jacob Sumners also saw action from the Auburn mound.
Rusty Putnam recorded the loss for Furman after allowing seven runs on five hits and seven walks in three innings of work.
