Auburn Baseball Defeats Furman

AUBURN- The Auburn baseball team earned its second mercy-rule win in a row this afternoon, beating Furman 21-4. Auburn has outscored its opponents 92-25 so far this season.

The Tigers continue to get big numbers from the middle of the lineup. Dominic Rich went a perfect 3-3 on the day with two RBI and four runs scored. Gabe Gross was 4-5 with four RBI and four runs scored while Todd Faulkner went 4-6 with five RBI and a home run (2). Bobby Huddleston drove in three runs and scored twice and Mailon Kent had a pair of runs and a pair of RBI.

Brent Speigner (2-0) picked up the win for Auburn. Speigner went five innings allowing two runs on four hits, no walks and four strikeouts. Levale Speigner threw the final two innings for the Tigers, giving up two runs on three hits, one walk and a strikeout.

Toby Davis (1-2) gets the loss for the Paladins. Davis went an inning and a third, allowing six runs on five hits, two walks and a single strikeout.

Current Oakland Athletic and former Auburn Tiger Tim Hudson threw out the first pitch in today's game.

The Tigers (6-0) look to sweep the Paladins (2-4) tomorrow afternoon. Former Auburn pitcher Gregg Olson will throw out the first pitch at 1:30 pm.
