AUBURN- No. 11 Auburn, with big games from Dominic Rich and Gabe Gross, defeated Oakland, 8-4. Auburn improved to 11-2 overall, while Oakland fell to 0-4.
Auburn did the most damage scoring three runs in both the third and fifth innings to break open a tight game.
Dominic Rich singled in Jonathan Schuerholz in the third inning, then Gabe Gross knocked in two more runs on his sixth homerun of the year.
In the fifth inning, Dominic Rich singled in Mailon Kent, then Bobby Huddleston singled in Dominic Rich and John Tyler.
Kevin Knorst started the day for Auburn pitching 2.2 innings, giving up three unearned runs on four hits and one strikeout. Jacob Sumners replaced Knorst and pitched 3.1 innings giving up one unearned run on three hits and two strikeouts. Sumners picked up the win for the Tigers.
Rich had three RBI on 3-for-5 hitting and three stolen bases. Gross ended the game with two RBI on 2-for-4 hitting. Huddleston added 2 RBI on 1-for-4 hitting, while Lynn Shoop contributed one RBI before being injured and leaving the game.
The Tigers host South Alabama on Wednesday. First pitch is set for 3 pm(ct).
