Auburn Baseball Defeats
South Alabama, 9-4

AUBURN- No. 11 Auburn picked up an important win with a 9-4 victory over South Alabama. Auburn improved to 12-2 overall, while the Jaguars fell to 3-3 overall.

Auburn's Todd Faulkner had a big day with 4 RBI on 2-for-3 hitting including his fourth homerun of the year. Hayden Gliemmo went 2-for-5 with a double and 1 RBI, while Chris Beaird went 1-for-4 with a double and 1 RBI.

Levale Speigner got the start for Auburn, pitching 4.1 innings, giving up one earned run on three hits, two strikeouts and two walks. Brandon Mayfield replaced Speigner and gave up 2 earned runs on four hits before Colter Bean was called upon to pitch 4.2 innings giving up no runs on two hits and six stikeouts to pick up the win.

Auburn scored two runs in the second inning on Todd Faulkner's two-run homerun.

In the third inning, Bobby Huddleston scored on a Chris Beaird sacrifice fly to make it 3-0, Auburn.

South Alabama then went on to score four runs in the fourth and five innings to take a 4-3 lead over Auburn.

Auburn battled back to score five runs in the sixth inning including two from Faulkner's double to take a 8-3 lead over the Jaguars.

The Tigers scored one final run on Jonathan Schuerholz's stealing of home in the seventh inning.

Auburn will host VCU for a three-game series starting Friday. First pitch is set for 3 pm. Chris Bootcheck (2-0) is expected to start for Auburn.
