FAYETTEVILLE, Ark.- On a day when the Auburn pitchers struggled, the Auburn bats came alive to defeat Arkansas 21-11. The win completes the three-game sweep for Auburn. The three-game sweep was the first given up by Arkansas at Baum Field and the first home sweep given up by Arkansas since 1993.
The Tigers scored 21 runs on 19 hits and committed two errors. The Razorbacks scored 11 runs on 12 hits and committed a school-record-tying seven errors.
Mailon Kent and Diminic Rich both went three for six, scoring two and driving in three apiece. Gabe Gross went 2-4 and scored three runs. Todd Faulkner was 4-6 with four RBI and three runs. Jonathan Schuerholz hit a grand slam, his first career home run, to give him four RBI on the day.
Brent Speigner started the game for Auburn, pitched three and two-thirds innings, gave up seven runs on seven hits, three walks and a pair of strikeouts. Kyle Hudlow (1-0) picked up the win for Auburn. Hudlow went an inning and two-thirds, giving up three runs on three hits and two walks.
Wes McGrotty (0-3) got the loss for Arkansas.
The game was called after eight and a half innings due to travel time constraints.
