AUBURN- The eighth-ranked Auburn baseball team continued its dominance over Georgia by defeating the Bulldogs 9-4 in SEC action. Auburn improved to 25-6 and 5-3 in the Southeastern Conference, while Georgia fell to 16-9 overall and 5-3 in the SEC.
The Tigers took a 4-0 lead going into the top of the fourth inning. Georgia battled back to tie the game with runs in the fourth, fifth and sixth innings. Auburn ended the game by scoring five more runs over the seventh and eighth innings.
Six doubles were hit by six different Tigers. Leftfielder Gabe Gross had another huge day with five RBI on 2-for-4 hitting including a double, while centerfielder Mailon Kent was 2-for-3 with three runs, one RBI and three stolen bases.
Reliever Brandon Mayfield (5-0) picked up the win for Auburn. The senior pitched two innings, allowing two hits, and no runs. Colter Bean came in the eighth to pick up his second save of the season for the Tigers.
The Tigers and Bulldogs will play the last game of the three-game
