AUBURN- The Auburn Tiger football team went through a two and a
half hour practice in warm conditions on the practice fields Thursday.
Auburn continued to work on preparations for the season opener a week
from today against Wyoming in Jordan-Hare Stadium.
Head Coach Tommy Tuberville discussed the team's progress as
they prepare for the Cowboys.
"We were kind of wilting out here in the heat," Tuberville
said. "We did a good job of pushing through it. We are still having to
do a lot of team (drills) against each other. Today we went about 45
minutes doing that, working on things for Wyoming. We are still working
on a lot of blitz on our offensive line. We struggled with that a
little bit, but we are improving. I think our defense is getting better
at blitz."
Tuberville indicated on Thursday that sophomore Travaris
Robinson would move from wide receiver to cornerback on a permanent
basis.
"We made one position change today," Tuberville said. "We
moved Travaris Robinson to cornerback full-time. He'll play over on the
right and left side rotating a little bit. We want to try to get a
little more experience on the field."
A Miami, Fla., native, Robinson caught 18 passes for 174 yards
and one touchdown as a freshman in 1999.
Auburn will practice Friday beginning at 3:30 p.m. on the
practice fields behind the Auburn Athletic Complex.
