Mother Of Auburn Head Basketball Coach Cliff Ellis Passes Away

AUBURN- Constance Ellis, 83, the mother of Auburn head basketball coach Cliff Ellis, passed away Tuesday at her residence. Mrs. Ellis lived in Chipley, Fla., since 1946.

Visitation will be Wednesday from 5-7 pm Central at the Chapel of Brown Funeral Home, 1068 Main Street, in Chipley, Fla., while the funeral service will be at the First Presbyterian Church, 658 North Fifth Street, in Chipley at 2 pm Thursday. Burial will follow in the Glenwood Cemetary.

Survivors are two sons: Cliff and wife Carolyn Ellis of Auburn, Ala., Randy and wife Linda Ellis, Chipley, Fla.; two daughters: Carolyn Thomas, Panama City, Fla., and Teresa Ellis, Atlanta, Ga.; two sisters: Jamie Lee Hatton, Marianna, Fla., and Helon Steen, Ft. Walton Beach, Fla.; seven grandchildren: Chryssa Rutland, Clay Ellis, Anna Catherine Ellis, Ryan Davis, Michael Thomas, Bobby Ellis and Amy Saunders and two to be great grandchildren: Hannah Grace Rutland and William David Saunders.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the First Presbyterian Church, In Memory of Mrs. Connie Ellis, P.O. Box 237, Chipley, FL 32428 or to the UAB Department of Neurology ALS Research, to the attention of Dr. Shin Oh, 619 South 19th Street, Birmingham, Ala. 35249.

Constance Ellis was married to Robert Cecil Ellis, who passed away July 21, 1999, at the age of 86.
