AUBURN- Auburn senior golfer Will Swift shot a 14-under three-day total to place second in the Alabama Open at the Tradition and Legend Courses at Still Waters Resort this past weekend. Swift, who was the low amateur, was three shots behind former Auburn star Wes Tuck.
Swift, who shot a 69-67-66-202, entered the Sunday's final round tied with Tuck. Tuck fired a 9-under 63 compared to Swift's 6-under 66. Swift has had an outstanding summer with a 70.7 stroke average for 16 rounds.
"I am extremely pleased with the way I played," said Swift, a Selma, Ala., native. "I had three straight rounds in the 60s and that is something to be proud of. Wes just went a little lower than I did. I have played very well this summer."
Auburn All-American Scott Weatherly, tied for ninth in his first professional tournament with a 2-under par 72-73-69-214. The Fort Payne, Ala., native graduated after just finishing his junior season for the Tigers. Michael Brice, another former Tiger, tied for 18th at 72-74-71-217.
