JOHNSON CITY, Tenn.- The 18th ranked Auburn men's golf team will begin its fall schedule by traveling to Johnson City, Tenn., to play in the Ridges Intercollegiate at the par 72, 7,038-yard Ridges Country Club on Saturday and Sunday.
Headlining the 13-team field are nine top 25 teams including #1 Clemson and the fifth ranked Houston Cougars. Other top 25 teams include #10 Northwestern, #13 TCU, #14 Wake Forest, #16 South Carolina, #17 North Florida and #23 Oklahoma, the defending champion. Rounding out the field are North Carolina, SMU, Tennessee and Virginia.
Auburn, which lost four starters from last year's team, features a very young lineup. Junior All American Kevin Haefner will play the #1 spot for the Tigers. A pair of freshmen will occupy the #2 and #3 positions. John Little will play #2 while Lee Williams will be #3.
Senior Will Swift is in the #4 spot while sophomore Jay Mundy, a transfer from Furman, will play #5.
"I am extremely excited about this season," Auburn head coach mike Griffin said. "We have a new team with a lot of anticipation for the upcoming year. This will be a great experience for our young team. The field is incredibly tough and they wil be thrown into the fire from the get go."
Thirty-six holes will be played Saturday followed by 18 in Sunday's final round.
