February 26, 2000

AUBURN- 22nd ranked Auburn men's tennis team defeated the South Carolina State Bulldogs 7-0 Saturday afternoon at the Luther Young Tennis Center.

The Tigers improve to 3-0 on the season, while the Bulldogs fall to 5-4 overall.

Auburn won all six singles matches in straight sets and won two out of three of their doubles matches. Stephen Huss won the 81st doubles match of his career. He is only eight wins away from having the most career doubles victories at Auburn, which is currently held by Marcel van der Merwe with 88.

"We can't be disappointed with today's results considering we sat out three of our starters," Auburn head coach Eric Shore said. "We are still not where we need to be in doubles yet, but we haven't used our starting lineups. Our next match on Tuesday against UAB is going to be on a different level. We are ready to see where we stand."

The Tigers return to action on Tuesday February 29 at 1:30 p.m. against UAB at the Luther Young Tennis Center. Admission to the match is free.
