February 29, 2000

AUBURN- The 22nd ranked Auburn men's tennis team defeated the 38th ranked UAB Blazers 4-2 Tuesday afternoon at the Luther Young Tennis Center. The Tigers improve to 4-0 overall, while the Blazers fall to 5-2 on the season.

Auburn won two out of the three doubles matches to win the doubles point. The Tigers went on in singles to win three more matches, drop two and have one suspended after a split. Stephen Huss continued to climb towards the all time career doubles record as he won the 82nd doubles match of his career. He is only seven victories away from the record.

"Today was the toughest match we have played all year," Auburn head coach Eric Shore said. "We fought back in doubles to win the point.

"We beat a very good UAB team. We have only beaten them three times in my ten years at Auburn. Whenever we have beaten UAB we have gone on to finish in the top 16 at the end of the year."

The Tigers return to action against South Florida on Saturday, March 4 at 1:30 p.m. at the Luther Young Tennis Center. Free t-shirts will be given out to the first 200 fans in attendance. Admission to the match is free.
