Georgia Hands Auburn Its First Defeat In Men's Tennis

ATHENS, Ga.- The 21st ranked Auburn men's tennis team fell to 22nd ranked Georgia, 6-1, Thursday afternoon at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex. The Tigers dropped to 6-1 overall and 1-1 in the SEC, while the Bulldogs improve to 7-4 on the season and 2-0 in conference action.

Auburn opened up by winning only one of the three doubles matches to lose the doubles point. Auburn's only win came on court two by Georges Matijasevic and Tiago Ruffoni. The duo defeated Georgia's Lesley Joseph and Brandon Wagner, 8-5. On court one, Auburn's 18th ranked pair of Stephen Huss and Mark Kovacs were upset by Georgia's 49th ranked duo of Matias Boeker and Travis Parrott, 8-6.

In singles action, Auburn's only win came on court three by Kovacs over Parrott, 3-6, 6-4, 6-4. Georgia's No. 30 ranked Matias Boeker defeated No. 95 Huss, 6-7 (5), 6-3, 6-4 on court one, while No. 66 ranked Matijasevic was upset on court two by Georgia's unranked Adam Seri, 6-2, 6-2.

The Tigers return to action next weekend March 16-19 at the Blue-Gray Tournament in Montgomery, AL.
