Auburn Soccer's Tammy Waine Named SEC Player Of The Week

September 12, 2000

AUBURN- Tammy Waine, a junior forward for the Auburn soccer team, was named the Southeastern Conference Player of the Week, the conference office announced it Tuesday.

Waine, a native of West Sussex, England, scored two goals and added one assist in the Tigers' two matches over this past weekend. She led Auburn to a victory over No. 23 Marquette on Sunday with two goals, including the game-winner. Her assist came in Friday's victory over UTEP.

She is the first Auburn soccer player to earn Player of the Week honors since Jill Palmer received the award during the 1998 season.

Waine leads the Tigers with 10 goals already this season and her 22 career goals ranks third in AU's record books. She is just three goals away from the single-season goals scored record and six points away from the single-season points mark.

The Tigers (5-1-0) are off to the best start in school history and travel to Jacksonville State for a match on Friday at 7 p.m. before hosting The College of the Charleston on Sunday at 1 p.m.
