AUBURN- Jaime Rasmussen struck out eleven to pace Auburn in a 7-3 season-opening win over UAB at the Auburn University Softball Complex. Rasmussen pitched all seven innings and allowed five hits. It was UAB's first game in school history.
"Jaime did a great job in spite of everything," Auburn head coach Tina Deese said. "She had the pressure of it being the first game of the season, plus it being an in-state game that we were supposed to win. She did fine."

Auburn added two runs in the second inning on a two-RBI single by sophomore Sarah Orozco to right-center field with the bases loaded.
