Auburn Softball Breaks Records In Tiger Invitational

AUBURN- Auburn broke a school record for doubles in a game with 10 in a 7-0 win over Wichita State in the second round of the Tiger Invitational. Freshman shortstop Deni Zeigler also broke a school record for doubles by a single player with three. Ashley Moore and Jodie Van Ooyen each added two doubles for the Tigers. Sarah Orozco, Kimball Pratt, and Michelle Martin also notched doubles. Jamie Rasmussen pitched the complete-game shutout to get the win for Auburn.

In other Tiger Invitational games, UAB defeated Indiana State 9-4 and Jacksonville State 1-0 to run its tournament record to 3-1, earning it a number one seed going into the final day of the tournament. Andrea Hatcher went 2-for-3 with a triple, home run, and three RBI to pace the Blazers in the win over Indiana State, while pinch runner Jennifer Polsteen scored on an error in the top of the seventh inning to lift the Blazers over Jacksonville State.

UAB (5-4) will play at 11 a.m. at the AU Softball Complex. The Blazers will face either the loser of the Auburn-Jacksonville State game, which was played late Saturday evening or Indiana State, which lost to Wichita State 5-4 in eight innings Saturday night to get a number five seed. Indiana State will face the Auburn-Jacksonville State game loser at 9 a.m. at the AU Softball Complex, while the winner will face the winner of the Auburn-Jacksonville State game, who will then be seeded second, will face Wichita State, the number four seed, at 9 a.m. at the Auburn City Softball Park.

The championship game of the tournament will be played at 1 p.m. Sunday at the AU Softball Complex.
