Auburn Swimmers Rada Owen, Jeff Somensato And Maggie Bowen Advance To Finals At Olympic Team Trials

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.- Auburn swimmers Jeff Somensatto, Maggie Bowen and Rada Owen moved a step closer to earning a spot on the United States Olympic Team as they each advanced to the finals at the U.S. Olympic Team Trials Friday.

Owen, a native of Chesterfield, Va., finished second in the women's 200-meter freestyle with a time 2:00.70. Owen's time was a personal best in the long course 200-meter event.

Bowen, a sophomore from native of Jackson, Miss., finished third in the women's 200-meter individual medley with a time of 2:16.16.

A senior from Annadale, Va., Somensatto finished third in the men's 200-meter butterfly with a personal best time of 1:58.48.

The trio will compete in the finals of each event Saturday for the chance to join fellow Auburn Tiger Pat Calhoun on the U.S. Olympic Team. The top two finishers for each event will make the Olympic Team while alternates and coaches will be selected following the meet.
