Auburn Announces Volleyball Assistant

AUBURN- Auburn volleyball announced Wednesday the hiring of assistant coach Rusty Cooper. Cooper comes to Auburn following a one-year stint as an assistant at Northwestern University under the recently appointed AU head coach Kevin Renshler. Cooper will serve as the first assistant and his focus will include recruiting and administrative duties.

"I am excited that I get the opportunity to continue working with Rusty because I feel he exemplifies the professional qualities needed to be a part of a successful program," head coach Kevin Renshler said. "He has a genuine concern for the student-athlete and the capabilites to help bring this program to the next level and become competitive at a national level."

Prior to Northwestern, Cooper spent four years as an assistant at the University of Evansville. The Eaton, Ohio native is a former USA Volleyball player and also served as an assistant coach at Miami (Ohio) University during the 1994-95 season.

Cooper played on the men's club team at Bowling Green University for three years and received his B.S. in physical education, athletic coaching and health in 1992.
