Auburn Women's Basketball Signs Wright

AUBURN- Annette Wright, a 6-4 post player from Saltsprings Island, British Columbia, signed a national letter of intent to play basketball for Auburn University, it was announced by head coach Joe Ciampi on Tuesday.

Wright averaged 25.0 points, 17.0 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game as a senior at Gulf Island Secondary School last season and was named the conference MVP. She also was named to the British Columbia all-star team.

"Annette is an excellent student of both the books and the game of basketball," said Ciampi. "She has a tremendous work ethic and will be a great addition to the team."

Wright, who has only been playing organized basketball for three years, is currently playing on the on the British Columbia Under 19 Provincial team at the Canadian Junior National Tournament in London, Ontario.

Wright will be the first Canadian to ever play for Ciampi at Auburn and will be a freshman on the 2000-2001 squad.
