Auburn Names Kennedy Director Of Women's Basketball Operations

AUBURN- Auburn University's women's basketball program has named Craig Kennedy as the director of basketball operations, it was announced Tuesday.

Kennedy will assist head coach Joe Ciampi with the day-to-day duties of running the team, as well as handle the financial side of the operations.

"Craig will be a great asset to this team," Ciampi said. "He is has a great knowledge of the game and will be able add a new perspective to our program."

Kennedy, a native of Oakbank, Manatoba, joins the Tigers after a four-year stint as the head boys and girls varsity basketball coach at Lee-Scott Academy in Auburn. Prior to that he was spent seven years as a coach at the University of Winnipeg in Canada.

At Lee-Scott, Kennedy helped coached the boys program to three straight elite eight appearances, including a trip to the state final four in 1998.

At Winnipeg, Kennedy served as an assistant coach for the women's program for six years and held the title as interim head coach in 1995. During the 1995 season, he led the team to 20 wins and a top 10 ranking. As an assistant, he helped Winnipeg to conference titles and the team tied a North American record with 88 straight victories during one stretch.

Kennedy also served as the head women's coach for Trinity Western University and was the runner-up for the 1993 BCCAA Coach of the Year.
