Auburn Golfer Courtney Swaim Low Amateur, Finishes Second In Georgia Women's Open

July 24, 2000

AUBURN- Auburn junior golfer Courtney Swaim was the low amateur and finished second overall in the Georgia Women's Open with a 1-over par 73-72-145 at the Canongate on White Oak Golf Club in Newnan, Ga., Wednesday.

The Duluth, Ga., native finished four strokes behind professional Caroline Blaylock.

"I am pleased with the way that I played," Swaim said. "It was tough course with a difficult setup to go along with a strong field. I have been playing well this summer, and I hope I can continue at the U.S. Amateur next month."

A week ago Swaim fired a national low qualifying round of 6-under 66 at Chapel Hills Golf Club in Atlanta, Ga., one of 15 qualifying sites across the country. The U.S. Women's Amateur will take place Aug. 7-12 at Waverley Country Club in Portland, Ore.
