AUBURN- The Auburn women's tennis team defeated the Purdue Boilermakers 5-4 at the
Luther Young Tennis Center. The Tigers improve to 3-1 on the season while the Boilermakers
fall to 1-2.
"This was a great win over a very feisty Purdue team who is going to win a lot of
matches. Today our top players really stepped up big, led by Simone Jardim at No.2. This was a
good win for our program," stated Head Coach Troy Porco.
Sophomore Simone Jardim led the way by defeating Erica Quebe, 6-4, 3-6, 7-6, on court
No.2. Jardim's dual match record improved to 2-1 on the season, with all of her matches being
played on court two.
In doubles, Lucy Altman and Jardim defeated Lynsey Fick and Lisa Walgenbach, 8-3 for
their third win of the spring season. The duo has compiled an 8-3 overall record with five of
those wins coming in tournaments this past fall.
The Tigers return to action this Tuesday, Feb. 15 at 1:30 p.m. at the Luther Young Tennis
Center. Admission to the match is free.
