AUBURN- The Auburn women's tennis team defeated the Samford Bulldogs 8-0 out on
the courts of the Luther Young Tennis Center to improve their record to 4-1. With the loss, the
Bulldogs dropped to 1-3 on the season.
The Tigers were paced by Carolina Maurer who defeated Tara Tiller 6-0,6-0, and Summa
Edwards who won 6-0,6-0 against Lauren O'Steen.
"I thought we did a good job of coming out and playing strong from the start. This match
allowed us to get some work in before two strong matches this weekend," stated Head Coach
Troy Porco.
In doubles action, Simone Jardim and Lucy Altman improved their overall record to 10-3
with a decisive win over Gretchen Misner and Stanka Ilkova, 8-0. With the win, Jardim and
Altman entered the career doubles victory list ninth and tenth, respectively, with Jardim winning
number 37 and Altman 34.
The Tigers return to action Saturday, Feb. 19 at noon against the Miami Hurricanes at the
Luther Young Tennis Center. Admission to the match is free.
