MTSU Defeats Auburn 5-4 In Women's Tennis

February 20, 2000

AUBUN- The Auburn women's tennis team was defeated by the Middle Tennessee State Blue Raiders 5-4 Sunday afternoon at the Luther Young Tennis Center. The Tigers lost their second straight match and dropped to 4-3 on the season while the Blue Raiders improved to 5-5.

Auburn and Middle Tennessee State split the singles part of the match and were tied 3-3 going into doubles action. In doubles, MTSU picked up wins on courts one and three and walked away with a 5-4 victory over #43 Auburn.

"MTSU wanted it more than we did. When the pressure was on, they stepped up their games and got the job done. I felt the effort was there, but our executions on the pressure points were not," stated Head Coach Troy Porco.

The Tigers return to action on Feb. 25 as they travel to Tampa, Florida to take on the South Florida Bulls. The match is scheduled for 2:00 pm.
