TAMPA, FL.- The Auburn women's tennis team, ranked 48th in the country, was defeated by
No.39 South Florida 6-3 at the USF Tennis Complex. With the loss, the Tigers drop to 4-4 on
the season while the Bulls improve to 6-2.
Freshman Katia Illarionova improved her record to 4-0 for the dual match season with a win over USF's Natalie Schwartz 6-0, 6-1. Brazilian native Carolina Maurer defeated Jackie Spicijaric of South Florida, 6-2, 6-0.
In doubles action, the 25th ranked duo in the country, Lucy Altman and Simone Jardim, easily defeated Natalie Schwartz and Jackie Spicijaric of South Florida. 8-4.
The Tigers continue their road trip with a visit to number 4th ranked Florida on Sunday, February 27, at 12:00 p.m. (EST).
