Noel Mazzone

Noel Mazzone, the former offensive coordinator of the Ole Miss Rebels, joins Tommy Tuberville on the Plains to install a new offensive mindset as the Tigers new offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach.

A native of Raton, New Mexico, Mazzone attended the University of New Mexico where he earned his B.A. degree in 1980. While working on his degree he also played quarterback for the Lobos and set many school records. He was fifth in the nation in total offense in 1976, earned second team All-Western Athletic Conference honors, and was 11th in total offense in 1977.

Mazzone's first college coaching experience came as a graduate assistant at New Mexico in 1980. After spending one year at his alma mater, he took an assistant coaching job the following season at Boulder High School in Colorado.

Mazzone joined the college ranks again one-year later as an assistant coach at Colorado State University. During his five-year stay with the Rams (1982-86), he was in charge of quarterbacks and receivers while handling every aspect of the passing game.

Mazzone left Colorado State after the 1986 season to join the coaching staff at Texas Christian University. While at TCU, he installed the Horned Frogs passing game, which featured the one-back, two tight end scheme, and also coached quarterbacks and receivers.

After five years with the Horned Frogs, Mazzone took a job with the University of Minnesota as the Golden Gophers quarterback coach from (1992-94). He was also responsible for the development and play calling of the Golden Gophers offense.

After the 1994 season, Mazzone would joined Tommy Tuberville and his staff at Ole Miss. He spent four years (1994-98) as the Rebels offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach before joining the Auburn staff as the Tigers new offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach.

Mazzone is married to the former Patricia Pogna of Albuquerque, New Mexico. They have two sons, Taylor and Grayson, and one daughter, Alexandra.
