MaChelle Joseph joined the Auburn women's basketball staff in September of 1996. She is responsible for recruiting, coaching the guards and scouting.

Joseph and assistant coach Kelley Hall's first recruiting class at Auburn which included All-Americans Shana Askew, Tasha Hamilton, Erin McGinnis and Conswella Sparrow was ranked fourth in the country by Blue Chip Magazine.

Joseph came to Auburn from Purdue where she worked as an assistant coach for three years. Her responsibilites included recruiting, coaching the guards and coordinating the strength and conditioning program.

A standout player for the Boilermakers from 1988-92, Joseph earned Kodak All-America and Big Ten Player-of-the Year honors as a senior. She was selected to the Big Ten All-Decade second-team for the period of 1981-1991 and was a finalist for both the Naismith National Player-of-the-Year and Wade Trophy.

The native of Auburn, Ind. finished her career as the holder of 33 Purdue game, season, career and post-season records. A three-time first-team All-Big Ten honoree, Joseph set the all-time Purdue and Big Ten scoring mark with 2,405 points. Her 628 career assists are a school record and rank second all-time in the Big Ten. Joseph is the only player in conference history to rank in the top 10 in both career scoring and assists.

Following graduation with a B.S. in movement and sport sciences and a minor in supervision with a coaching endorsement in 1992, Joseph spent one season as a graduate assistant and interim assistant coach at Illinois before returning to Purdue as an assistant.
