Shannon Hanson

Assistant Coach

 

Shannon Hanson enters her first year as an assistant coach for the Auburn women's golf team. A former star golfer at LSU from 1993-96, Hanson spent came to Auburn from the New Orleans Country Club where she was an assistant professional.

After graduating from LSU in 1997 with a Bachelor's degree in General Studies, the Sulphur, La., native served as a student assistant coach for LSU during the 1996-97 under head coach Karen Bahnsen.

Hanson earned three consecutive second-team All-SEC honors and posted the 18th best stroke average (78.22) in the conference as a senior in 1996.

She had two top-10 finishes and a fifth at the Carolyn Cudone Intercollegiate. She tied for sixth at the LSU-Fairwood Invitaitonal as she helped the Fighting Tigers to an eighth place finish in the NCAA Championship.

In all, she had four top-10 finishes in her career and posted single round bests of 1-under 71 at the 1993 Ping/ASU Invitational and the 1995 Rolex NCAA Fall Preview.

Hanson is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harold and Sandra Hanson. She has three older brothers, Barry, Mitchell and Matthew.
