# Installing Daimonos Daimonos is a single Rust binary that acts as an MCP server for AI coding agents. It replaces built-in file, search, exec, and git tools with agent-optimized equivalents that use fewer tokens and fewer round-trips. **Supported platforms:** Linux (x86_64, aarch64) and macOS (Apple Silicon, Intel). Windows is not yet supported. ## Prerequisites For pre-built binaries: just `curl` and a supported platform (see below). Clone the repo git clone https://github.com/beardfaceguy/daimonos.git cd daimonos # 2. Build (release mode recommended) cargo build --release # 3. Verify the binary works ./target/release/daimonos --help ``` To put it on `PATH` instead of referencing `target/release` from your editor config: ```bash cargo install --path . --force # installs to ~/.cargo/bin/daimonos ``` Note that `cargo install` re-resolves dependencies from scratch and ignores `Cargo.lock`. Subsequent builds are incremental and take a few seconds. **macOS users**: works on both Intel and Apple Silicon. No extra flags needed. **Linux users**: works on any distro with a recent glibc. Tested on Ubuntu 22.04+ and Fedora 39+. ## What Gets Built The build produces a single binary at `target/release/daimonos` (~15 MB). There is no runtime, no daemon to manage, no background service.
