# Privacy Policy for Watch Pizza Party

## Overview

Watch Pizza Party is a Chrome extension that enables synchronized video watching with friends on Netflix and YouTube. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.

## Data Collection

### Information We Collect

1. **Username (Anonymous)**
   - Randomly generated pizza-themed names (e.g., "Red_Pepperoni")
   - Used only for identifying participants in a watch party session
   - NOT linked to your real identity

2. **Room Participation Data**
   - Room codes you create or join
   - Video playback state (play/pause/current time)
   - Chat messages sent within a room
   - Only stored temporarily during active sessions

3. **Server Connection Data**
   - WebSocket connection status
   - Server selection preference (Pizza Server or Local)
   - Used for maintaining real-time synchronization

### Information We DO NOT Collect

- ❌ Your real name or email address
- ❌ Your browsing history
- ❌ Video content you watch
- ❌ Netflix or YouTube account credentials
- ❌ Payment information
- ❌ Personal identifying information

## How We Use Your Data

1. **Real-Time Synchronization**
   - Synchronize video playback across participants
   - Enable chat functionality within watch parties

2. **Session Management**
   - Maintain active room connections
   - Coordinate host/viewer roles

3. **Server Operations**
   - Route messages between participants
   - Manage room lifecycle

## Data Storage and Retention

- **In-Memory Only**: All room data is stored in server memory (RAM)
- **Automatic Deletion**: Rooms are deleted 5 minutes after the last participant leaves
- **No Persistent Database**: We do not store any data permanently
- **Chat History**: Limited to last 100 messages per room, deleted when room expires
- **Local Storage**: Server preferences stored locally in your browser only

## Data Sharing

- **We do NOT sell, trade, or share your data with third parties**
- **Server Communication**: Data is transmitted only to our Pizza Server for synchronization
- **No Analytics**: We do not use Google Analytics or similar tracking tools
- **No Advertising**: We do not display ads or share data with advertisers

## Third-Party Services

### Pizza Server (Render.com)
- Hosted on Render.com infrastructure
- Located in Frankfurt, Germany (EU)
- Encrypted connections (HTTPS/WSS)
- No data persistence

### Netflix and YouTube
- Extension operates on Netflix and YouTube pages
- We do NOT access your account credentials
- We do NOT track what you watch
- We only read playback state (play/pause/time) for synchronization

## Your Rights

You have the right to:
- Use the extension anonymously
- Delete your data by leaving a room
- Uninstall the extension at any time
- Use a local server instead of our Pizza Server

## Security

- **Encrypted Connections**: All communications use HTTPS and secure WebSockets (WSS)
- **No Authentication**: No passwords or login required
- **Room Codes**: Randomly generated, expire automatically
- **Ephemeral Data**: All data is temporary and auto-deleted

## Children's Privacy

Watch Pizza Party does not knowingly collect data from children under 13. The extension is designed for general audiences and does not require age verification.

## Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy occasionally. Changes will be posted on our GitHub repository with an updated "Last Updated" date.
