Tap the **Save note** button on the Notes tab. You can: - **type** the note, - **speak** the note (the Application transcribes your voice to text using Apple's speech framework on your device), - or **paste a YouTube or Instagram link** as the source. For YouTube links, the thumbnail is fetched and shown in the note card automatically. You can also pick one or more **positions** (e.g., Closed Guard, Half Guard) and group the note under one or more **topics** while you save. ### How do voice notes work? On the Save Note screen, tap **Speak your note** to start recording. Voice is transcribed using Apple's speech framework on your device — the audio itself is **not** sent to our backend. Only the resulting text appears in the note. You can record up to roughly 90 seconds at a time, and you can keep recording multiple times to extend a note. ### Why does the app ask for Microphone and Speech Recognition permissions? These two iOS permissions are required only for voice notes. If you do not want to use voice notes, you can deny these permissions or revoke them later in **iOS Settings → BJJ Technique Journal**, and the rest of the Application will continue to work. ### Where are my notes stored? All your notes are stored locally on your device, in the Application's local database. They are not stored on our servers. If iCloud Backup is enabled on your device, the local data may be included in your iCloud Backup according to your Apple settings. ### Can I sync my notes across devices? Cross-device sync is not available in the current version. Your notes follow your device, with iCloud Backup as a passive restore mechanism if you migrate to a new device. ### How do topics work? Topics are buckets you create to group related notes — for example, *Closed Guard tips*, *Always Remember*, or *Pan Ams prep*. A note can belong to multiple topics. Open the **Topics** tab to browse, rename, or delete topics. Deleting a topic does not delete its notes; it only removes the grouping. ### How do I track what's working? Each note has a status: **Reference**, **To Try**, **Tried**, or **Worked**. Open a note and tap the action button to log an attempt — choose an outcome (Worked / Almost / Didn't / Skipped) and optionally write a short reflection. Your attempt history is saved with the note so you can see, over time, what is becoming part of your game. ### Why am I seeing a paywall? What are the free limits? The Application includes a free tier with a cap on the number of notes you can save. The exact current limit is shown on the upgrade screen at the moment you reach it, and on the App Store listing. Premium removes the cap. If a free trial is offered for the Premium plan, the trial is shown on the upgrade screen before purchase. Cancelling before the trial ends prevents any charge. ### How do I restore a previous purchase? Open **Settings → Restore Purchases** inside the Application. You must be signed in to the same Apple ID you used for the original purchase. ### How do I cancel my subscription? Subscriptions are managed by Apple. Open **iOS Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions** to cancel or change your plan. Cancelling stops future renewals; you keep Premium access until the end of the current billing period. ### Will my notes disappear if my subscription expires? No. Notes you saved during a Premium subscription or trial remain on your device and remain readable. Free-tier limits then apply only to **new** activity. Existing content is not deleted. ### How do I disable reminders? Open **Settings → Reminders** inside the Application, or revoke notification permission in **iOS Settings → BJJ Technique Journal → Notifications**. ### Does the app work offline? Yes. The core journal — saving, viewing, editing, voice transcription (Apple speech framework), searching, marking outcomes, and capturing reflections — works fully offline. An internet connection is only needed for subscription purchases and restore, crash and analytics reporting, fetching YouTube thumbnails when you save a YouTube link, and the launch-time region paywall configuration check. ### How do I delete my data? Delete individual notes from inside the Application, or uninstall the Application to remove all locally stored data. To request deletion of analytics records tied to your anonymous device identifier, email us at [support@nextline.software](mailto:support@nextline.software). ### I found a bug or have a feature request. Please email [support@nextline.software](mailto:support@nextline.software) with a short description, your iOS version, and the Application version (visible in **Settings → About**).
