Indian infrastructure giant Bharat Road Network Limited is classified as a Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) company, but unlike its competitors, its skillset is fortified with over three decades of financial expertise. Bharat Road Network Limited (BRNL) was an early mover in the infrastructure sector — and one of the few organisations with a focus on asset management as well as Public Private Partnerships (PPPs). Capital investment forms an integral part of its vision, as BRNL takes an “investor approach” to its projects, with a sharp focus on funding and asset management. The company’s breadth of experience has made it particularly aware of the potential pitfalls of projects, and that aptitude has resulted in healthy growth in earnings per share (EPS) over recent years. At Bharat Road Network Limited, leadership plays the long game for the long-term good of the community and the country. Short-term, quarter-by-quarter profits are secondary to the goal of steady asset development over 15 to 20 years. BRNL’s portfolio comprises five operational BOT projects — with 1,645 lane kms of meticulously maintained highway infrastructure, including major and minor bridges — and its latest project under development will add 400 lane kms of road to the network. The CFI.co judging panel is pleased to recognise a BOT business with the expertise of a capital investor, and names Bharat Road Network Limited as the winner of the 2019 award for Best Infrastructure Project Manager (India).
