AcouSort has grown from academic roots to commercial heights — using sound to save lives. AcouSort aims to revolutionise modern healthcare by enabling a new generation of analytical and diagnostic point-of-care devices designed to save time, money and — most importantly — lives. When it comes to life-threatening illnesses, the devil is often in the diagnostics. Traditional lab processes rely on laborious centrifuge separation, forcing doctors to wait hours or days to receive the results. AcouSort’s products can streamline the workflow by integrating the separation directly into diagnostic instruments, allowing point-of-care doctors and nurses to get immediate results. Interest in the acoustofluidic technology has exploded over the past few years. It uses ultrasound waves to separate blood into components, to isolate and purify cells and extracellular vesicles and to induce rapid biochemical reactions. AcouSort’s product line is the result of more than 20 years of R&D at Sweden’s Lund University. The company has developed automated benchtop research systems — the AcouTrap and AcouWash — with customisable parameters for acoustic separation or trapping of particles from fluid. AcouPlasma, the company’s first OEM component, has a small footprint allowing for easy integration of the technology into existing systems and consumables. AcouSort was founded in 2010 and recently listed on the Nasdaq First North Growth Market. The company continues to advance the technology through proactive collaboration with academic and commercial partners. It’s making waves, literally and figuratively, and the CFI.co judging panel presents AcouSort with the 2020 award for Best Healthcare IR Value Creation (Nordics).
