# I&M Bank (Rwanda) Plc: Best Bank Rwanda 2023

Incorporated in 1963, I&M Bank (Rwanda) Plc is the oldest bank in Rwanda. It’s a leading player in the industry with a strong footprint across the country. I&M Bank Rwanda offers the full range of personal, business, institutional and corporate banking products throughout its locations. The bank has been listed on the Rwanda Stock Exchange since March 2017. It's a subsidiary of I&M Group PLC, a leading regional financial services group in Eastern Africa with a presence in Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda as well as a joint venture in Mauritius. I&M Group has a long history in banking and has established a wide network of correspondent banks across the globe. It enjoys a strong relationship with leading international development financial institutions and is committed to driving transformation and innovation across the industry. The bank has unlocked higher levels of customer satisfaction and operational efficiency through deep digitalisation. It has increased the customer base by 29 percent, with significant growth in MSME banking. The bank’s decentralised branch sales strategy, which levers a direct sales agent model and prioritises customer engagement, has led to a 38 percent increase in total transactions year on year. Digital transactions grew by 46 percent, and 88 percent of newly acquired accounts were registered via digital channels. Tech investments have delivered greater flexibility and control over credit and risk management.
