# Colibri Self-hosted ebook library with a gorgeous web interface, book collections, and metadata editing. Screenshot of Colibri Colibri allows you to manage your books, sort them into collections, and to read and download them. It is built on [SvelteKit](https://kit.svelte.dev) and can run in serverless environments. Colibri also employs password-less authentication via [Passkeys](https://www.passkeys.io). > **Hey there!** 👋 > Colibri is **still under active development** and not ready for prime-time yet. I'm also looking for contributors and > co-maintainers on the project: There is _a lot_ left to do, and I have big plans for the app (none of them involve > making it a paid product, by the way). > > If you'd like to be a part of this effort and contribute something—code, design-wise, or anything else really—please > contact me! ## Features - Simple library management: Import your ebooks, update their metadata, and get a neat library accessible from all your devices. - Automatic metadata retrieval: Colibri will automatically fetch information about books, authors, and publishers from public knowledge graph data. - Easy search integration: Colibri integrates search services to index and search content in your library. - Seamless passkey authentication: By using passkeys, you can sign in to Colibri using Windows Hello, Touch ID or Face ID and similar authenticators. - Book collections: Colibri allows you to create collections for your books. - Easy to self-host: Colibri is built for maximum flexibility. Run it on Docker, Cloudflare, Vercel, AWS or directly on Node.js. Thanks to [SvelteKit](https://kit.svelte.dev), Colibri can run pretty much anywhere. - Secure: Colibri uses modern web technologies and is built with security in mind. It does not track you, and it does not send your data to third parties. ## Project Goals Colibri tries to enable you to: - Self-host a delightful, secure, and capable bookshelf for yourself and your family - Form a small, private social network around reading with your family and friends - Store, analyse, and enhance your ebook files - Publish your reading lists and reviews ### Non-goals Colibri does not aim to: - Replace your existing ebook reader (nor Calibre, for that matter) - Make it easy to pirate books - Be a community for exchanging books with lots of people ## Licensing Colibri is licensed under the [GNU AGPL v3](LICENSE). This means you can use, modify, and distribute it freely, but if you run a modified version of Colibri that is accessible to others, you must also make your modifications available under the same license. Considering Colibri is expressly _not_ intended to be run as a commercial service, this license should be a good fit. **This license applies to all packages in this monorepo, unless otherwise noted.** ## Contributing If you'd like to contribute to Colibri, please read the [contributing guidelines](CONTRIBUTING.md) first. All contributions are welcome, be it code, documentation, design, or anything else!
