This Place Was Once Nameless

A collection of historical flash-fiction (pieces typically 1000 words or less) on the inception of Tacoma and Puget Sound in general.

This collection of flash fiction is the result of almost six months of research and writing on the Puget Sound area. The most notable piece is probably "November 3, 1885", which describes the day when the majority of the Chinese residents of Tacoma were driven away by a violent mob. This piece was featured in the Spring'18 issue of Crosscurrents Magazine. Even after living in Tacoma for four years, this project brought me much closer to the city, and I learned some really fascinating little tidbits. Fun fact: the journey that inspired 80 Days Around the World began in Tacoma.
