# NOTICE — Legal notices, attributions and disclaimers

This repository ("DDC Skills for AI Agents in Construction") contains AI-assistant skill
instructions (`SKILL.md` files), documentation and reference material. This NOTICE documents
third-party rights, attribution and licensing so that users can rely on the collection without
surprising legal exposure.

## 1. Repository licensing

- **Skill instructions (`SKILL.md` files) and documentation**: MIT License — see [LICENSE](LICENSE).
- **"Data-Driven Construction" book** (`Books/`, `GuideBook_*.pdf`, © Artem Boiko, ISBN 978-3-9826255-9-1):
  free to download, all rights reserved to the author. Redistribution must keep the original
  cover/attribution.
- **DDC CWICR cost database** (referenced from [OpenConstructionEstimate-DDC-CWICR](https://github.com/datadrivenconstruction/OpenConstructionEstimate-DDC-CWICR)):
  **CC BY-NC 4.0** for the DDC compilation, plus a **separate DDC commercial license** for
  commercial use. The underlying national price data remains available from the official
  issuers under their own terms. Do NOT treat the database as CC BY 4.0 — commercial use
  requires the DDC commercial license (info@datadrivenconstruction.io).

## 2. Trademarks

All product names, logos and brands mentioned in the skill files are the property of their
respective owners. Use of these names is for identification and interoperability purposes only
and does not imply endorsement by, or affiliation with, the trademark owners:

The skills reference classification codes and rule packs from third-party standards.
Only **codes and short factual titles** are used as references; no copyrighted text of any
standard is reproduced in this repository:

- **NRM / NRM2** (measurement rules) — © Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS).
- **MasterFormat / UniFormat** — © Construction Specifications Institute (CSI) and Construction Specifications Canada (CSC).
- **GAEB** (X83/X84) — © GAEB (Gemeinsamer Ausschuss Elektronik im Bauwesen).
- **ISO 19650** — © ISO.

The `4_DDC_Curated` category adapts skills from public third-party collections. Each adapted
skill remains subject to its source repository's license; see the source for the authoritative
terms:

The skills are **informational instructions for AI assistants**, not engineering, legal or
safety advice. Construction is a regulated activity:

- Estimates, structural decisions, safety-critical actions and contract-signing must be
  reviewed and approved by qualified human professionals.
- Safety-compliance and computer-vision skills do NOT replace statutory site safety systems;
  keep human oversight as required by law (including the EU AI Act, Regulation (EU) 2024/1689,
  where applicable).
- Always verify prices, quantities and classifications against official sources before
  binding use.
