I used the EQ emulator to check this mystery out. When you use the
emulator, all doors and many other objects are not drawn; thus a wall with a
door in the game is just an entry without a door in the emulator. So, I
thought if rotating the star lamp does open a door close by, I would see
this hidden passageway in the emulator. Well, I searched all over that part
of akanon; under water too, and I saw no new passages. I think it's a red
herring.

I don;t know about that. With a 3D sound card, that
creaking sound comes
from behind me and down the corridor, not from the lantern
in front of me.
