I can confirm your #2 supposition. I wear my mask (old style mask) for the
cha stats. I stop songs and right click on the mask in it's face inv slot
to cast the spell. I get "you feel like you are about to look like
yourself..." or some such warnings when the spell is about to wear off. Zone
and I need to recast. I am still KOS in Nek. I can sell to the Oger vendor
with it on (illusion cast) but not otherwise (even though I have killed
loads of Bouncers - or been in partys that have I should say.) The Oger
guards are KOS to me on or off - I think - would have to test that.

p.s. although I have not yet binded in Ogg - I do camp there.

How eactly does the DE illusion work now that you have to
equip the Guise?
I see two options:
1) When wearing the mask, you get the stat bonuses all the
time plus the DE
illusion goes up as soon as you put it on. DE illusion
remains in effect
all the time as long as you are wearing mask.

2) When wearing the mask, you get the stat bonuses all the
time but DE
illusion is not active. Click on mask icon to activate the
illusion.
Illusion remains in effect for a certain duration. Duration
wears off when
zoning.

Based on everything I've read, I think #2 is how it works
but would just
like confirmation.
