f8 just targets the nearest npc. when they say the /assist command they
mean in a group when you want to all attack the same npc. if you target a
member of your group, either by clicking on the person in the group list or
using f2-f6 keys, then type /assists or /as for short, your current target
will change to theirs and you will being melee attacking. this way everyone
in the group can /as the person pulling and all attack the same npc.

In a little confused to, when everyone refers to the ASSIST command are u
referring to the F8 key, or is there a way to hot key the ASSIST command....
