You're right that's not surprising. They probably decided that in order to
keep the feel of the bard class consistent with it's present skill set,
they'd cap the level at 50. 8-p

A lot of the 50+ spell data has gone into the SPDAT file on the test
servers.
I've included links to this new stuff for those interested.
Things to note;
No new bard songs in yet (there's a shocker)
Druids will be getting a SoW upgrade (group) that is a 60% speedup at level
60. There goes our Fastest Thing in Norrath title.
Of course, none of this is final yet, but its interesting to look at.
