Did my own logging using filemon and sure, they are looking at those spots but
I don't think Verant is to blame. IMHO it's more likely that M$ is to blame.

I think that those checks are made by wininet.dll when you create a new
instance
of the CInternetSession class and there is probably no way you can turn
them off
(at least none I found in my reference books)
