Oh I agree that finding the problem is the real issue. I just can't figure
out why its so hard to find. USWest DSL is really bad, no doubt about that
one either. I have a cable modem and rarely have trouble.
Some of these problems seem to be fairly rare, such as the male human
transformation, but they aren't limited to one system. They have been
reported by others on the boards. I don't see how it could be system
related unless its really odd. They have the same video card, cable modem
service, and basic system as I do. Their sound card is different as is
their Ethernet card. I have never seen the transformation bug though.
Worried about a possible file corruption problem we reformatted their hard
drive and reinstalled everything clean with just EQ on the system with the
things needed to run it. No help after playing for about 45 minutes she
zoned into Sol A and all the goblins were male hmans. She did discover that
the boat is male however as the models retain their gender so some mobs
become female humans. Have yet to have this happen in Kunark though they
still crash to the desktop whenever they camp, or nearly all the time.

The big problem I had was that they obviously never took any information on
the problem down or they would have known that reinstalling all those things
had no effect on the problem. They were very obviously not accumulating
knowledge about the problem and were just trying to throw a band aid fix at
it hoping to have it work.

I'm sure they WOULD fix the problems, if they knew how.
It is not as easy to fix problems as to say "Fix them"
You first have to figure out what the problems are.

ALL of the disconnects I have had recently I can trail right back
to my DSL line. Including last night's. (We have REALLY poor DSL service.
But
US West can't seem to figure out why our line quality goes so screwy
so often) I do not have the problem of mobs turning into male humans, and
have never heard of the boat doing so before.

These aren't problems affecting every subscriber or, even, a majority.
And at that point, it does become much more likely there is a problem
on the individual's system than in the program itself.
