you are correct, I misspoke.
Those bards who were in the beta never needed to train :) I never needed to
anyway as I never got to 51 ;) Still 50 and counting on Test (it's not my
primary server I play there when servers are down or whatever.)
As to the players who have trainers there, as I said, I honestly don't know.
Only guess is: Because there were more of them than there are bards (typical
;) but to say there weren't _any_ bards in the beta is foolish. We had a
song vendor and that's all we needed. Parry and Riposte were late additions
and no bards hit high enough levels to get em anyway.
(well there were a couple GM buffed ones but they get automatic skill 100
when they do that so they don't need em either)
