My little gnome enchanter that I play every now and then was /following a
group member out to the second kobold camp. It tracked pretty well most of
the time but there were two instances where I did a tight 360 and came back
around to follow further behind.
It almost looks like it uses a 'point at' routine to determine your heading
and when you lose positioning with the leader due to lag or other server
refresh sort of things, you get spun in a circle until you come around and
reestablish your visual of the leader.

Good Journey,

8)Follow definately makes life a lot easier than previously,
8)but I'm still
8)finding, even in open areas, that due to the weird client prediction
8)bugs and people's wide variation in ping times it can still screw up a
8)lot. I've found it works best if I dont have people set follow to me,
8)but to someone who's about the slowest in the party. Then I
8)follow that
8)person too, that puts me in the middle of the group instead of ahead,
8)making it more likely I will keep everyone under the effect of Selo's.
8)However this often also results in my client deciding the person I was
8)following turned right and ran in a circle a couple of times then
8)disappeared, when in fact they continued in a straight line.
8)
8)A good trick I used to use before the follow patch that can still be
8)useful is when you are leading with Selo's and need to slow
8)down to let
8)people catch up, instead of stopping, which usually causes
8)most of your
8)party to also stop to see why you stopped, crouch while running, which
8)will slow you down considerably.
