Subject: Re: Skill caps?

The concept of the skill cap centers around the idea that we spend most of
our time with our music. We do a lot of travelling so we pick up some
pointers on how to forage but our minds are set more on the inn at the end
of our journey where the tankard of ale and hot plate of food sit neatly
atop a table near the fire before we entertain the locals with songs and
tales.

Good Journey,

8)I recently noticed that despite getting the foraging skill at
8)12th level it
8)has never increased. I was then informed that many of our
8)skills have caps
8)on them of 40 or so. What's the deal with this? I really
8)don't like the
8)idea of skill caps, especially on a simple self preservation
8)skill like
8)foraging. You already can't sell what you forage so why put
8)a cap on it?
8)Does anyone know any more on this and what the possible
8)reasoning behind
8)them could be? What are bards just too stupid to learn these
8)things really
8)well? Its not bad enough we all get the useless skill of
8)brass instruments
8)at 12th level, which cannot be used till 18th. Now Wood
8)Elves get no new
8)skill at 12th since forage is already maxed and hide is already at the
8)supposed cap as well. Does that mean the xp penalty we take
8)for being able
8)to start with those skills will go away once we actually have
8)them? I think
8)not. I'm usually not big on ranting, but this has me really
8)steamed. What
8)good is it to get a skill at 25th level that caps at a point
8)where it will
8)only work on things 10+ levels below you?
8)
8)J.M. Any thoughts on this one? Please tell me this will
8)change at some
8)point.
