Not to be a nit picker, but monitors usually run with a 4:3 aspect ratio.

where 4:3 = width:hieght, so a 480X640 res would look rather strange :)

I run a p3 450 with 256mb and a riva TNT2 16mb.

My system runs in 1280 X 1024 but i run eq in 1024X768

In the windowed view the view is very small (640x480), but i usually
run in full screen overlayed mode, so that isnt a problem, maybe switch to
this mode?
