<P>There's a lot on stats in the list archives if you
want to look...but the conclusions again and again
have indicated that 75 is an average stat and there is
some return for raising them, but it seems to level
off quite a bit at 100 or so. More
important for a bard is armor class and resists
... especially if you plan to raid later in your
career. Aside from that, pick up a walrus skin
drum -- they go for about 1,000 pp on Rodcet Nife and
the fastest weapons you can get hold of.
<P>If you are a casual player without a regualar group
then get the drum first. It's the preferred
weapon for kiting and you can solo your way thru 50+
charming and chanting.
